While it’s a perfect list that no one can achieve, we hope it gives our students something to strive for as they grow toward their individual potential in Christ. While they may teach chemistry or walk alongside students in a dorm, first and foremost they seek to point our students to their potential in Christ. Teachers, dorm parents, chaplains, counselors, and all those working directly with our students have this mission as their priority. Arguably, my most important role is to remind us as a staff that we need to be absolutely surrendered to Christ in order to reflect Him to our students. Paul, a physician assistant, and Debbie, a registered nurse, plan to work in RVA’s health clinic, caring for the medical needs of the RVA student body. The rift forms when the earths crust divides. As you might guess, a rift is a split or break and a valley is a low point. RVA has around 500 students and provides a safe place for children to learn and grow, equipping the next generation for Christian life and service. A rift valley is an area where the earths crust is splitting apart. Our vision is to educate and disciple students toward their potential in Christ, thus enabling families to serve across the African continent. Paul and Debbie are moving to Kijabe, Kenya to work at Rift Valley Academy. The defense or foundation of our team is that we are unashamedly Christian.
As a football fan and coach, I’m regularly thinking about lineups or the makeup of a team. If I were to think of Rift Valley Academy as a football team - real football, of course - and what characterizes us or makes us different from the next team, this is how I would define us.
